ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm James

My Family.jpg

WHERE I COME FROM

I was born and raised in Moline, Illinois, and I’ve spent my life rooted in the Quad Cities—learning early what it means to work hard, look out for your neighbors, and take pride in where you live. I’m the youngest of seven kids, and growing up in a big family taught me responsibility, grit, and how to speak up while still listening. Today, I’m a proud dad of four and a proud grandpa to four grandkids, and that family perspective keeps me grounded in what really matters: safe neighborhoods, strong schools, good jobs, and a community where the next generation can thrive. That local foundation is why I’ve stayed here, built my career here, and chose to serve—because this community isn’t just where I live, it’s who I am.

A THRIVING CAREER

With a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity & Information Assurance, I’ve built a career around protecting people and the systems they rely on. My experience includes work supporting the Department of Defense, where security, discipline, and accountability aren’t optional—they’re the standard.

Today, I serve at Palmer College as the Director of Information Security and Infrastructure, leading efforts that strengthen cybersecurity, improve reliability, and keep operations running smoothly. Alongside my professional work, I’m also a Village Trustee for Coal Valley, bringing that same problem-solving mindset to public service—focused on responsible stewardship, smart planning, and delivering results for the community I call home.

MISSION STATEMENT

Security Mindset, Community Results

My mission is to protect and strengthen our community by delivering practical, accountable leadership—using my cybersecurity and infrastructure experience to safeguard public trust, support working families, and ensure local government is transparent, responsible, and focused on real results.
